"The Fukushima Fifty" is the name given to a team of nuclear power plant workers, estimated to be 50 to 70 in total, who face extreme personal risk while they work to avert greater catastrophe at the stricken Fukushima facility in Japan. Their co-workers and nearby residents were evacuated, as radiation leaks near the site increased after a devastating earthquake and tsunami.
